Who I Am

I AM Tracey Tackett – just a girl from Ohio, born and raised in Clark County and your Independent candidate running for Commissioner.

I AM a graduate from Clark Shawnee High School and JVS. A recent Honors graduate of Wittenberg University where I studied Organizational Leadership and Political Science. I will attend the John Glenn institute at THE Ohio State University this fall working toward my masters degree in Public Policy and Leadership. My husband Mike, a North High Grad also attended Clark State and currently works at Navistar. My son Mason is a student at Global Impact STEM Academy where our daughter Morgan also graduated from in 2019. Morgan passed away that same year from complications related to epilepsy which is why I advocate so hard for those we love that suffer with life long health disparities.

I AM a small business owner who is active in the Springfield community. I have owned and operated Sip & Dipity Paint Bar for almost 9 years.  For more than 20 years I have served this county and community through participation and leadership in organizations like the Springfield Arts, Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity and more.

Why I Am Running

I AM invested in Clark County. I have a sincere desire to see Clark County improved for ALL of its citizens regardless of location, income, livelihood, social status or political affiliation. Our country may be divided but our county does not have to be. Clark County needs fresh ideas and new energy to tackle the problems that face Clark County residents and to revitalize our communities.

I AM a servant leader. Over the years I have organized many community events like Downtown Trick-or-Treat, the Golden Egg Hunt, First Friday Makers Market, flower planting at the Cancer Center, International Women’s Day, and more - all events designed to serve my community, provide opportunities and to bring the people of Clark County together. I have been through the Leadership Clark County Program, the statewide LEADOhio program, and the Citizens Police Academy. I have organized fundraising events like the Golf Scramble which supports National Night Out, Operation Thanksgiving and Santa. Our campaign was a part of sponsoring the Clark County Firefighters Ball. I have served the American Cancer Society of Clark County and now serve as both a national and state representative for the Epilepsy Foundation. All of these events and organizations serve others. They are causes that cut straight to the heart for Clark County citizens – the need to be recognized, accepted and connected.

As An Independent Candidate

I AM campaigning as an Independent candidate. I recognize that neither of the major parties has all of the answers. I have a long history of working with people from both parties to serve the needs of people in our county. Only by working together and bridging the gaps that exist can we move forward in a direction that will benefit ALL citizens of Clark County.

I AM more interested in serving people than playing politics. I like the quote - “You can’t open a new lock with an old key”. If we want to open new doors in Clark County for ALL of our citizens, we need to find new keys. If we want to accomplish things we have not been able to accomplish before we need new vision and new perspective. We cannot continue to see Clark County as it has been and helplessly revert to the “same old, same old” and then fling up our hands in despair when things do not change. We cannot limit ourselves to solutions that might have worked yesterday but instead, we need to look to solutions for tomorrow – for our children and grandchildren. We need to be bold and step outside of our comfort zones (and our political parties) to imagine better for all of us. Our county will never be different until we see it differently.
